This place is one of the signature highlight of Fukui prefecture. is a one kilometer long stretch of rugged basalt cliffs along the Sea of Japan coast north of Fukui City. The rocky coastline has been carved out by the waves, leaving deep chasms and precipitous bluffs that tower up to 30 meters above the water below. The coarse, pillar-shaped rocks look like bundles of hexagonal and pentagonal rods and are a rare geologically formation that can be seen in only a few other spots in the world.

the place is amazing. blue water and cliff, peefect match. well known tourist spot. not enogh parking but huge influx of cars, so it took a long time to find a space for parking. parking usually cost 500. But some parking offers if you shop something from THERE recommended shops worth 1000 or more they refund the parking fee, interesting promotion.

there are several cliffs, all picturesque having a blue sea background. for photographer and solo travellers it could be a place to visit. be carefull about choosing your shoes since its a cliff and risky. acessible by JR bus as well. if u are using a private vehicle, do visit the nearest oshima island. free parking, and no such crowd.
