Hiraoka Park — Attraction in Sapporo

There are two parts to this park. The larger park contains: the plum Grove, walking trails, park golf and wet land boardwalk area and across the road is the sports area: baseball, tennis and large playground. Both parks are beautiful but there is no connection path, or tunnel between the two areas over a large busy road which makes it inconvenient to enjoy both without driving or a 5-10min walk (must stop for traffic as it is near the highway ETC. Superb place to experience Sakura trees. I visited this park after failing to see the Sakura trees in bloom at Goryokaku garden in Hakodate. You’ll need to walk about 750m before you arrive in the heart of the garden where the Sakura trees are and boy are they beautiful!! Great park for a little adventure. Good for training on outdoor activities like trekking, hiking, and birdwatching. Note that there are two parts of the park: the smaller one with the sport fields and playground area, and the bigger one with forest and swamp areas and plum grooves.
