This is a mountain near the center of Sasebo City in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. I was stationed at the US Navy base here in the late 1980s to early 90s in charge of the Marine Security Detachment. Now I visit here 3~4 times a year to conduct western style weddings at the luxury resort hotel near the top of the mountain.

The views from the top of the surrounding seaside are spectacular on clear days. Particularly to the southwest is the 99 Islands seascape. Then looking to the northeast is an amazing overview of Sasebo City and the shared US/Japanese Navy Base.

Sasebo has long been referred to as The Pearl of the Pacific because of its expansive and well protected harbors, but there is much more to see in this beautiful...

I had the pleasure of visiting this incredible park, and I was blown away by the stunning views! From the top, you can see the entire city of Sasebo, and it's absolutely breathtaking. It truly feels like being on top of the world.

The park itself is impressively clean, which really enhances the experience. The well-maintained paths and lush greenery create a serene environment that is perfect for a relaxing day out.

Whether you're looking for a peaceful walk or a picturesque spot for photos, this park is a must-visit. It's a hidden gem that's definitely worth exploring! Highly...

Nice quick walking path with three spots to view Sasebo from above. There also a path from the Yumihari Hotel to reach the park. Dogs must be kept on leash and there a water fountain as well as public bathrooms and vending machines. Few spots to sit around park. Some areas have been overground with nature but the main paths are cleared. Plenty of parking , I went in August so I would suggest bringing mosquito spray if you plan on walking in the other areas beside...

On a beautiful day this is a great place to go and overlook the city of Sasebo. There are quite a few cherry blossoms in the springtime. There is also a lot of history from the wartime. You can see an old radar installation and two anti-aircraft gun placements along with an old magazine house. There's plenty of bilingual signboards to give you information. Definitely worth visiting when you're in Sasebo.
