Rinsho-ji — Attraction in Sennan

Rinshōji Temple -famous place for Azalea-

The garden "Hōrin no Niwa" by Mirei Shigemori is beautiful especially when azalea blooms.

Mirei Shigemori is well known as a garden designer of "Hōjō Teien" (a moss garden of Tōfukuji Temple in Kyoto) and "Hachijin no niwa" (a garden that imagines the tactics of Zhuge Liang of "The Romance of Three Kingdoms" of China, at Kishiwada castle in Kishiwada city of Osaka pref.).

Around 20th May, Azalea blooms at the garden of Rinshōji Temple. However, in 2018, it will be in full bloom earlier than usual. (attached photo was taken 22nd April.)

Today we visited this beautiful Temple, doors was opened, so we entered inside. After a while came family who lives inside the temple , after a small talk we asked or can they show us a ritual, or a prayer. So they actually did! Man was going to put his praying clothes and woman was preparing our spots. So we “prayed” together, after woman made a tea for us and a small Mochi snack. There living people was so kindhearted, warm and we could talk and ask what ever we want. Ofcours if you visit them, have internet and translator for a better...

Izumi 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #31 Rinsho-ji Temple Tradition says that Rinsho-ji Temple was founded by Gyoki sometime between 729 and 748, but the temple's name was given by Emperor Horikawa (1079-1107).
