Since autumn is here Iwayado Park is a must visit! It’s conveniently located just half an hour away from Nagoya and very close to Gifu, it’s easy to access by car, and with a bit of patience also doable by public transport. Just get all the information at the local information office by the train and bus station. The park itself is perfect for a stroll, a day out with the family, friends or significant other or even for playing with your dog. There’s a small river with some nice looking bridges, a charming shrine, a couple of waterfalls and a strange temple in a cave formed by big boulders. There are vending machines, some local stores that open seasonally, where you can even get the eel dish which is famous in this area! There’s also a picnic area. For the more adventurous, there are three different hiking routes, from very easy to a bit of action, just a bit though since the maximum elevation goes around 320mts in this area. If you’re looking for calm and relaxation this is definitely the place though. I specially recommend the “森の道” -the forest trail, although it doesn’t go through the top of the mountain, it has a perfect atmosphere while you’re surrounded by the forest. If you choose the road that takes y to the top of the mountains, don’t forget to visit the “Frog rock” since it’s the landmark there. Don’t worry, you’ll recognise...

Good place for quick a walk! I’ve been disappointed, because despite being in the middle of nature, there’s only one natural waterfall, the others are artificial... and a month ago, the hiking trails were almost all closed! There are warnings of poisonous...

Parked on the side of the road past the red bridge. Nice trail to a small waterfall. Bathrooms and a picnic area by the wading pool, across the bridge is a store. This is a really well thought out area for visiting.
