This should be a must see if you come to Zao for the fall foliage. The water refections are just gorgeous! Reflections depend very much on the weather condition. Our friends came here on the next day. It was a same sunny day but there were some breezes which caused the pond water moving.

長老湖があるのは七ヶ宿町の北東部、白石市との境目近くです。 蔵王連峰の一角である不忘山（ふぼうさん）の麓にあり、標高約500mに位置しています。 縦に長細い形をした湖で、一周およそ2km。 周囲にはブナ、ナラ、カエデの木々が生い茂り、秋は錦秋の絨毯が敷かれた絵本のような景色がみられます。 紅葉の見ごろは、10月中旬～11月上旬。 湖畔を一周する散策路が整備されており、東北一大きな吊り橋(やまびこ吊り橋)がかかる「横川渓谷」へ行けます 駐車場から、やまびこ吊り橋迄、900m程歩かなければならないので結構疲れますが、紅葉の時期に絶景を見れるので、吊り橋迄頑張って歩きましょう！w
