I arrived at Kurohime Kogen Snow Park about an hour and a half before closing with hopes of fitting in a couple of runs at the end of the day. It was extremely easy to buy a lift pass, and for quite a reasonable price, as well (I payed ¥3,800 for a 3 hour pass). Though there were only a handful of runs to choose from, all of the ones that I tried were very enjoyable. They ranged in how challenging and long they were, but I was able to hit every course at least once in that span of two hours. While some might argue that there isn’t so much to do at this snow park, I thought the experience was more than satisfying enough for me. I thought all the runs were perfect in length (about 4-8 minutes each) surrounded by wonderful scenery. Not to mention, the slopes were nearly empty this time of year!
All the lift staff were very friendly and generous, with one even allowing me to ride just as it was preparing to close. At the end of my runs, I stopped at the little restaurant at the bottom of the slopes for a refreshment, and the one lady working there on Christmas was very friendly, too.
If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend making a stop at Kurohime Kogen Snow Park. Fantastic fun on the slopes, and the view from the top is worth the price of...
Read moreFirst time at a snow park with school age kids. We were not planning to do skiing but kids wanted some snow experience. Location is not far from the Nagano town and is good for day trip if you don't mind driving. The drove to ski park is relatively easy, better than expected. We spent about 3hrs at the family area park where the kids got to ride on a variety of snow mobile equipment. We took the ski lift to the top and slid down. Note that most instructions are in Japanese and we have to use google translate. The staff can't communicate in English too and hence need to use google translate too. This ski park seemed to cater more for locals as there were many elementary school kids on school excursion to the park. We rented 2 pairs of gloves as ours weren't warm enough..very pricey. Approx 2000yen per pair and they weren't warm either! Overall kids enjoyed the trip and it's inexpensive for the 3hrs use of...
Read moreWe came here because they cater to dogs and even allow dogs to ride up one of the lifts and then run down the mountain! We enjoyed seeing the many dogs and friendly owners. The facilities are quite nice and the guests are primarily families with many more skiers than snowboarders. Unfortunately the old men running the lifts had bad attitudes and little concern for guests boarding or exiting the lifts. The old man inside the control room of the high speed quad was actually sleeping. Some chairs had exposed grass on the exit that could have easily been covered up. Other than when I boarded with my dog no one even held the chair as I got on. The lifts may as well have been unattended. Maybe it was just me, because I’m a foreigner or a snowboarder, but we will...
