Bijin Bayashi Forest — Attraction in Tokamachi

樹齢約100年、美しすぎるブナ林。

・美人林 松口の丘陵に樹齢約100年ほどのブナの木が一面に生い茂り、そのブナの立ち姿がとても美しいことから「美人林」と呼ばれている。新潟県森林浴の森百選に選ばれています。

・オススメの季節 春夏秋冬で様々な表情をみせてくれる美人林のため、オールシーズン楽しめます。 春は残雪がある中に芽吹く若葉が、確かな春の訪れを教えてくれます。夏は鮮やかな緑に包まれ、ブナの木の間を吹き抜ける爽やかな風を感じることができます。（周辺より気温が約2℃低い）秋には黄色やオレンジ、赤色に葉が染まり、まるで絵画の中にいるような美しい空間に魅了されることでしょう。冬はまさに”銀世界”という言葉がぴったりな世界に。晴れた日には日の光を浴びた雪がキラキラと光ります。

Nice little wood for a stroll. All the beech trees were planted after the war so are approximately the same size and well-spaced. This has led to this place getting its name. There is a pond with a bridge over it where photographers try to get photos of the trees reflected in the water. The different views of the forest during the four seasons are also interesting. ゴールデンウィークに行きました。 ブナ林も美しいですが、鳥の鳴き声もすごく良かったです。 小さい虫が大量にいます。

雪国の里山のブナ林 美人林は標高300mほどの丘陵地に位置する約3ha の広さのブナ林です。ブナは日本の代表的な落葉広葉楜 で、多雪地に多い木です。ブナは他の木に比べ雪に強い特徴があり、新潟県は積雪量が多いため、低標高でもブナ林が見られます。 美人林はブナの原生林ではなく、伐採後に二次的に再生してきた「二次林」と呼ばれるブナの林です。大正末期、ブナの炭焼きが行われ、この場所に生えていたブナの木々はほとんど全て伐採されました。伐採されたことで、林の中は一気に明るくなり、ブナの実生や稚が一気に成長を開始しました。高密度でブナ林が専生したことで、幹の太さがそろい、枝張りの少ないすらっとした形のブナ林に成長していきました。 昭和40年頃、当時の美人林を見た材木商がスギ林への転換を持ちかけたところ、地主の一人である田辺誠二氏はブナの立ち姿の美しさを説き、「雪を克服するまでに成長した林を後世に残したい」と、ブナ林のまま維持することを決意しました。このブナの形の美しさが美人林と呼ばれ始めるきっかけとなり、その後昭和50年代には「美人林」という名称が定着したと言われています。 美人林の中央部には雪解け水やブナ林からしみ出た水を貯える池があります。この池は、農業用水のため池として明治末期に造られた人造の池で、近年まで下流に位置する集落の棚田の水源として利用されてきていました。 四季折々、美しい表情を見せてくれる美人林には年間を通じて多くの方が訪れ散策を楽しまれます。年間10万人が訪れる美人林は地面が踏み固められ硬くなり、ブナの根が露出しているところも散見されます。散策する観光客の皆さんが歩きやすいように、また林内の地面が踏み固められ過ぎないように、地域の子どもたちやボランティアの皆さんによる美人林保全活動も行われています。 池があります。水面には新緑や紅薬、ブナの立ち姿が映りこみ人 して明治末期に造られた人造の油で、近年まで下流に位置する
