A very nice, retro onsen keeps true to its style very well. I went here just before golden week, so it wasn't too crowded for me.
They have a pretty large variety of food, including lots of old and new snacks for the area. They even had a mud cleanser sort of thing in the bath you can try out to try removing some dead skin from your face.
There's also a karaoke machine that has joysound installed. The set up is a little confusing, and it costs 200 yen per song, so if you only plan to sing a few songs, it's pretty good value.
Lastly, they have a massage area that costs extra, and if you can specify what area of your body is bothering you, they can help loosen up that part of your body.
Overall, if you want a place to relax for a day, it's pretty cheap to come in and do so. There's even areas to sit down, eat, and relax, so I recommend this place wholeheartedly.
ALSO, you can't buy tickets in advance on Golden Week, it seems, but you can buy a ticket in advance for any other day. Those days are most likely first come...

There is a whole restaurant and dagashiya(like a kids candy store) it brought me some nice nostalgia. The atmosphere was very calming and relaxing.
There was no lack of people, and it seems like you can stay there like a hotel. It cost 880/person and if you don't have a towel, you can buy/rent one.
The water was great. Had a bit of a rejuvenating effect as the water on contact would have a sort of oily skin effect(I wouldn't go as far as slimy, but more like you had oil on your skin and your hand would glide). There was also clay facial pack material free to use, and I tried it and it actually was good stuff. There was one bath outside, 2 inside. The water isn't super hot. But rather on the "just right/could be a little hotter" side. I was in there for almost an hour and a half.
There was a vintage style cola vending machine in the entrance, a little treat before you leave.
Overall great experience,...
Read moreKind of out of the way by public transportation, best if you have a car or not impossible 30 minute country walk from the nearest station. This place has a 'Showa' theme, so tries to look like it's from the 1950s. Went on a holiday weekend in fall and it was busy, but not uncomfortably crowded. People seem to come and go rather than stay a long time. Really good alkaline water that feels slippery as it dissolves your old skin away … don't know if that's really good or not! Also, outdoor bath is pretty enclosed with no view but overall the water is just the right temperature -- not crazy hot like some places. Food is cafeteria style, buy a ticket and give to the old ladies and wait -- grab a seat first! Mostly noodles and fried food but all...
