Judging by the name, I was kind of expecting to see at least some castle ruins but there's essentially nothing left of the castle aside from the ground where it once stood. Still, it's a lovely location for a longer walk and also really nice place to take your lunch at. ”Ascending” to the actual place was a little tiring but looking back, I'm pretty sure I took a wrong (and unnecessary long) path uphill - nevertheless, I nice small...

Takiyama castle ruins are a nice and quiet place to go and chill out. There's multiple sites but unfortunately most of the signs about the ruins are in Japanese.

You can get a great view of the city across the river from a resting place.

Behind it is a small serene farming area with a lot of plantations. When going down towards the river be careful as the stones are smoothed out nicely so they are...

Not much of a castle what so ever. Took the girlfriend. But there was free parking and even no entry fee which is both basically unheard of for Japan. Nice views and well taken care of place, hardly any people too! Worth a visit. You’ll have no idea where to go or what’s going on if you don’t speak/read Japanese’s though. Atmospheric 16-century ruins on the 100 famous Japanese castles (...'continued') list. The are some reconstructed buildings but it's mainly earthwork moats. The AR app they suggest you download was surprisingly informative and it was a good walk following the paper map around the site.
