先日青ヶ島から戻ったときには、波が高くてくろしお丸は底土港に入れず八重根に入港⛴️ 以前東京に戻るときにも、台風のため橘丸が八重根から出航したこともあった。八重根は波が静かなので、他が荒れているときでも海遊びが出来るのが好い。ナイトダイビングのポイントでもある。港湾施設の中なので風光明媚とは言えないが、海の中は割とキレイで魚も甲殻類も沢山いる。トイレや自販機も近くにあるし、車も止められます。

(2022\09) 底土港が東風で使えない時は、船はこちらに着岸する八丈島の裏玄関口。八丈小島などの眺めもいいのだが、周囲に店や飲食店が全然ないのが残念。八重根遺跡では、奈良時代ごろに干魚や鰹節を作っていた人々が暮らしていた痕跡が発見されている。
