There are designated areas where you can park and feed animals like llamas and deer yourself. Be prepared for the zoo to have an animal smell, which might linger on your clothes. The zoo closes at 5 PM, so there's some time pressure, but the entire trip typically takes about two hours. The facility feels a bit outdated, and its remote location in Gunma doesn't help. A lot of the animals come close to the car, and you have to stop for animals all over the road which was fun. About halfway, we stopped and could go around a walking safari which was fun. Lots of animals to see and we could touch and feed some. Plenty of toilet facilities, a gift shop, and a small amusement park which was fun for the adults and the kids. A great stopover on the way to other sights in Gunma. We spent two hours here but didn’t know about the amusement park in advance, so we probably could have spent a bit more time there....
