Ishigedo Kyuukeijo Rest Area — Attraction in Towada

There is a nice visitor center and a large clean toilet at this location. Visitors can park their car here and take the trail towards Lake Towada which is up slope. There are some 50 parking spaces on both side of the road. The other direction starting from Lake Towada is probably easier. There are buses from Aomori and Hachinohe I believe so you can take the bus here, walk for 4 hours and then go back. I have included some photo of the local bus timetable. Do note that the timetables were at a bus stop about 2 km from here.

There is a shop selling snacks, drinks and Ramen at this visitor center which is super convenient. Price is quite reasonable. But I will suggest you bring your own snack and packet lunch just in case.

There is a small exhibit area inside the visitor center displaying the avifauna of this region. Good to have a good but you'll need google translate...

奥入瀬渓流のコメントも兼ねる。

当休憩所は奥入瀬渓流の事実上の始まり（登り口）である。この休憩所付近の遊歩道を歩くだけで、手っ取り早く、奥入瀬渓流の雰囲気を味わえる。駐車スペースも、他の奥入瀬渓流の駐車スペースに比べて多数あり、時間、日取りを選べば、余裕で車を止められる。

なお、焼山が出発点と説明されているものが多数あるが、焼山－石ヶ戸の間は何の面白みもないので、パスすべし。

奥入瀬渓流はGoogleMapだと石ヶ戸と子ノ口（湖側）約8km2時間と出る。観光パンフレットだと3時間とかなっているが、実際スタスタ歩くだけだと、それほど早足にならずとも、2時間で登れてしまう。上りが続くが傾斜は基本緩やか、というか、ほぼ平坦な感覚で、所々にあるアップダウンを除けば、表参道の方が遥かに傾斜がある、そんな感じである。歩道自体もよく整備されている。

勿論、ひたすら歩くのみだと勿体ないので、要所要所で休憩したり、渓流美をじっくり眺めたりするべきであるが、それでも３時間あれば、十分登りきることができる。子ノ口のバスの時刻から逆算して、石ヶ戸から登る（帰りは石ヶ戸までバス）が、最も合理的なルートと思う。

個人的には人が少ない後半（湖側）が好みで、所々に渓流を眺めるベンチがあり、そこでぼーっとするのが何よりの至福である。

なお、ぜいたくな話だが、日本を代表する渓流であるものの、似たような景色が２時間３時間続くと、最後は流石に飽きてくる。全路踏破というコンプイベントを目指さないのであれば、要所だけ鑑賞した方が、却って良いかもしれない。

個人的には白銀の流れがイチオシである。人が少なく、またロードノイズの邪魔が入らず渓流美を楽しめる（渓流歩道の半分ぐらいは車道と並行しており、実は結構うるさい、白銀の流れはそれが無い）。白銀の流れの少し南側（湖側）に数台の駐車スペースがあり、そこからアクセスできる。

最後に携帯の電波。KDDIは僅かに繋がる場所が所々にある程度で、頼りない。SBと楽天は分からないが推して知るべし。僻地はやはりドコモが強い。Googleマップで距離算出する...
