Worth a visit at least once. Best time to go here is during a weekday. Be prepared to drive on dirt and gravel as the pavement ends a short time after you pass the bridge. Follow that road all the way to the end. There is a sign that explains some of the history of the cave. After you have explored the cave follow the path down towards the beach. It is a fun place to explore. If you go during low tide you could walk around the entire island.* Added note: There are many abandoned and stray cats on this island that look near to starving. It appears as if someone or somebody has cleaned up the area near the caves and hauled alot of the trash away. There are many signs in this area some translated in English that tell you to be responsible for your pets and a brief history of discoveries made. There is now a sign(written only in Japanese),more like a note taped onto the official signs sayings that the area is sacred and you should not feed the starving cats because God is watching you. Pretty sure any God that you believe in would not be to happy about starving the cats. Just one foreigners opinion but I...

First off, google maps is a liar. You will see a bridge guarded by some dragons, cross it and drive until you can’t drive anymore. The road to the parking lot is mostly dirt and very narrow, but other than a few bumps, it doesn’t present a problem. It is a very short walk to the cave itself which has a little shrine and an area where you can go in and down to the left. You can walk on a trail to the right of the cave and find another smaller cave and, if you’re feeling adventurous take an overgrown single track trail with some sketchy looking ropes all the way down to the bottom of the cliff for some beautiful views. You can also find a trail to the tip of the island on the top of the cliff, but again, it requires some very overgrown single track. Overall it’s a cool island to explore and worth the drive, especially if you want a more private...

This cavern is really off the beaten path and unless you are an adventurist, you probably would never know it was there. The main road that crosses the bridge only goes a few 100ft end before it turns into a 2 rut, overgrown farm path. The cave is located at the end of this long farm road. If another car is coming your way, you might find yourself backing all the way out and starting over. At the end of the road, you will see a small path entering the woods in front of you. The cave is through the path and to the left. There is usually always someone there praying, so please respect those that are praying. There is a crack on the right side that can be entered and explored and will lead you to an exit point on the other side of the island (note; the air gets pretty thick inside and there are a few tight places to wiggle through). ...

The limestone cave is on the uninhabited Yabuchi Island and the road to it is pretty tough to drive on. Though it's worth the drive, because you'll see this cave which archeologicsts haven't worked on for about 50 years. Most of the time there's no one around. For the not-so-touristy adventurers: go to the cave and then follow the beaten trail. You will find a rocky beach area where you can hunt for seashells and see various kinds of maritime animals that live near or at the shore. There's also many other caves just across the beach and just a beautiful landscape to take photos. Really worth the trip for people who want to relax and enjoy time without people around.

Came here after deciding not to go to Kunigami. We were going to go hiking but made too many stops along the way so we decided to head back and show my friend this historical cave. We drove on the long gravel road to get there. There was no one here so we went into the cave as far as it would take us. It was cooler walking towards the cave entrance, it was extremely hot yesterday July 15 2018. Then we walked down to the beach the tide was slowly coming in and we both took great pictures. I recommend everyone to come here at least once. It’s well worth it. Not many people know of this place.
