Ushiku Daibutsu: A Towering Icon in the Japanese Landscape Standing tall against the Saitama skyline, the Ushiku Daibutsu is a bronze statue of Buddha that inspires awe and reverence in all who see it. At 120 meters (394 feet) in height, it's the third tallest statue in the world and the tallest bronze statue. Here's what makes Ushiku Daibutsu so special: Magnificent size: Standing taller than the Statue of Liberty, the Daibutsu's sheer size is sure to leave you breathless. As you approach, it seems to grow larger and more imposing, filling your vision with its serene presence. Rich symbolism: The statue embodies the Amida Buddha, a figure of compassion and salvation in Mahayana Buddhism. The lotus flower on which it stands represents purity and enlightenment, while the Mudra (hand gesture) symbolizes bestowing blessings on all beings. Peaceful atmosphere: Surrounded by gardens and a serene lake, the Daibutsu exudes a profound sense of calm and tranquility. It's a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and find inner peace. Unique experiences: Visitors can take an elevator to the observation platform inside the statue, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. You can also explore the museum at the base, which houses exhibits on the history and significance of the Daibutsu. Whether you're a spiritual seeker, a history buff, or simply seeking a unique experience, the Ushiku Daibutsu is a must-see destination in Japan.

The Ushiku Daibutsu is an impressive bronze statue that should definitely be on your list of must-see attractions when visiting Japan. Standing at a height of 120 meters, it is the tallest bronze statue in the world and truly a sight to behold. During our visit in 2018, we were able to climb to the top of the statue and the view from the top was absolutely breathtaking. You can see for miles in every direction and the panoramic view of the surrounding countryside is simply stunning. The statue itself is beautifully crafted and the attention to detail is amazing. The peaceful and serene atmosphere around the statue makes it an ideal place to relax and reflect. Overall, the Ushiku Daibutsu is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Japan. Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or simply looking for a unique and unforgettable experience, this attraction is definitely worth checking out.

Impressive Buddha, it's really to see it but I would say that's not a must have to see. First you'll probably go from Tokyo, so you'll have to pay the ticket until Ushiku and wait around 1h. Then arriving at Ushiku, you'll have to wait the bus going to the Buddha (1 per hour), around 1h again and it's super expensive. Arriving there, you'll have to pay an extra for entering in the Buddha. It's apparently nice to see it during spring because there are cherry trees. You have also a little lake with a lot of carps that you can feed for 100¥. You can enter in the Buddha even if you're in a weelchair. The ground floor is very weird, extremely modern (photo with the lights). Then the next floors are : - A little museum about the construction and the maintenance of the Buddha. - A religious place where you can dedicate a short gold Buddha. - A very very very small point of view - Finally a shop. So I don't recommend it, excepted if for you this Buddha have a religious importance, or if you're not concerned about money and time, or if you really want see the biggest Buddha of Japan :)

This is the largest bronze Buddha statue in the world. While you can see the Daibutsu from the parking lot, in order to see it head on and get close to it, you’ll need to purchase an entrance ticket. You can choose a ticket just for the grounds, or to go inside the Daibutsu. Depending on the time of year you visit, it seems like it can take a few hours to get to the museums and temple inside. During Golden Week, the line waiting to get inside was well over an hour long. One of the goshuin is only available from the 2nd floor of the Daibutsu. The seasonal flowers planted across the park were beautiful and made for great photo opportunities. I imagine when it's less crowded this would be a very peaceful place to come and relax. However, it is important to be respectful of the space. The park has signs and warnings about picnicking and camping out with food since this is a holy pilgrimage spot.

Ushiku Daibutsu - A Majestic Experience! Visiting the Ushiku Daibutsu was an awe-inspiring experience! Standing at 120 meters tall, this magnificent bronze statue of Amitabha Buddha holds the Guinness World Record for being one of the tallest statues in the world. The serene atmosphere and beautifully maintained gardens surrounding the statue add to the peaceful ambiance. The interior of the statue is equally impressive, with multiple floors dedicated to different aspects of Buddhism. The observation deck offers stunning views of the surrounding area, making the climb well worth it. The museum inside provides insightful information about the statue’s history and construction. Overall, Ushiku Daibutsu is a must-visit for anyone interested in culture, history, or simply looking for a tranquil escape. Highly recommended!
