御朱印をもらいにいき帰り際にリーフレットと数珠を貰いました。掃除が行き届いてて、とても綺麗なお寺です。数人の外国人のかたが修行されてました。会うたびに挨拶されて対応がとても良かったです。一度は行ってみてください、おすすめです。

I was happy to get an opportunity to visit Toshoji, a Soto Zen temple in Yakage.

The temple is situated at the foot of a small mountain, nestled in between woods on both sides and looking out over terraced rice paddies. The temple’s most impressive feature is it’s “山門”, main temple gate, however the other buildings of the temple are also impressive in scale.

I met a number of foreign student zen practitioners during my visit and they informed me the temple regularly hosts international students. I was also told that visitors to the temple are allowed to watch and participate in Zazen sessions by called ahead and arranging the visit with the...
