大王杉

樹齢：3,000年 樹高：24.7ｍ 幹周：11.1m 国指定特別天然記念物

縄文杉が見つかるまで 屋久島一の巨木大王杉

荒川登山道入口から歩いて 4時間程で大株歩道入口 そこから45分程で到着

大株歩道入口までは 平たんなトロッコ道

ハイキング気分で 自然の木々や川の音を満喫しながら 歩くことができ、運が良ければ鹿に出会うこともある。

トロッコ道を5時間歩き、霧が立ちこめ幻想的な雰囲気の中、突如現れた大王杉。

綺麗な声の鳥たちがさえずりながら 大王杉の大きく開けた口から出入りしている姿は異世界にきたと思うほど

あまりにも神聖な姿に鳥肌が立った。

2022年から大王杉を下から見上げるルートがなくなり、今後は北側に新ルートが作られています。

大王杉は確かに巨木ではあるが？私的にわ、大抵の杉は、中心部分から空洞化がはじまるが大王杉は中心部が残っている、もしかしたら残っている中心部はもともと立ち枯れした杉でそこに苔がつきそこに発芽した杉が根を下ろし今土台を包み込...
