I would say it is definitely worth it! We went with a guide, and although the trail to it is long and your knees will probably feel the strain by the end of your hike(we didn't take walking sticks). It was a very amazing surprise. We went when it was raining 🌧 and it was windy at the top but the view is absolutely amazing when you're there. It was a wow moment, and we saw some sakura trees at the top, so if you go late March, you will probably see a more colorful view. I'm definitely planning to be back, hopefully when it's sunny. Oh, and the rock, yeah, if you bang it with the palm of your hand, it kinda makes a drum sound. Try it if you go. It's a long hike, so if you wanna take your time, I'd probably head out early in the morning. We saw some monkeys on the drive to the trail and, on the trail, saw a deer. Apparently, the locals said only in yakushima do monkeys ride...

One of the most beautiful places I've ever been. You do need to take a bus, from miyanoura or miyanoura port. the cost is 828 or 850 Yen depending where you come from, you will enter the bus and take a ticket which your Affair will show at the top front of the bus. The bus, so you should aim to take an early bus, and then take the picture of the fares on the return trip. The last one leaves around 4 p.m., so unless you drive, keep your eyes on the time and make sure you have plenty of time to return home to the bus stop. You can hire a guide, but after you pay admission, which is 500 yen, they will give you enough. I was able to do most of the trails, taking the bus and returning around 1 p.m. be sure to bring food and plenty of water, as it is...

Lovely view from the rock. Very small open space and no railing. Signs and trail for the rock are not very clear /only in japanese, had to follow the pink tape. I started my hike from shiratani enterance (500yen fee to get in), took approx 2hr to gets here in the heavy rain. Other wise the rest of the trail is labeled clearly at each intersetion and at intersections only. Beautiful route, my cellphone pictures doesnt do it justice. Fair bit of elevation so beginners beware. Saw lots of solo hikers on the way. I totally...
