Matsuo-dera — Attraction in Yamatokoriyama

Today, July 21st, in the early morning, I ventured out to Matsuo dera temple in Yamatokoriyama, Nara Prefecture. This temple dates back to the 8th century and is famous for exorcism, driving out evil spirits. Located in a forested area and some ways up on Matsuo Hill it is a tranquil spot. To my surprise in the precincts were some 5000 potted "Lily of Casa Blanca" flowers in various colours. Matsuo dera was erected in 2nd year of Yoro (718) and it is the oldest exorcism...

There is probably a faster way up but if you take the scenic walkway and just enjoy the walk it's a 1 hour trip up that feels well worth as it's own little experience.
