名張・弥勒寺のルーツと考えられるようで、勧められて訪ねてみました。5ナンバーでも躊躇する0.6車線の集落道沿いにいくつかの跡が残るのみです。大寺院の面影はありません。上の道の比較的広いところに短時間停めさせてもらうのが良いかと思います。または、鋭角に降りる道ではなく、公園入口と書いてある、重機の停まった降り口を下ると安全です。きちんと仕事をする近所の番犬に吠えられます。

天平の時代まで遡ること千二百年以上も前の史跡です。その敷地は唐招提寺に匹敵するほどだそうです。敷地がある『毛原地区』は本当にのどかでゆったりと時間を過ごすことが出来ます。

大きな礎石が、並んでいて。立派なお寺があった事が、うかがえます。 菩提寺にある奈良時代の仏像が、ここから来たという説があるので、訪ねて見ました。
