If you are a Kumamon fan, than this might be the place for you as there are many statues and displays featuring the mascot, including a giant one.
It was late April, but there were no eateries or shops open, but you could use the toilets and access the vending machines. There is also a large parking lot.
Was it worth the over-an-hour drive from Sakuramachi? Probably not, and it did not help that Google sent us partly on the smaller roads where you get stuck behind traffic for long periods. When we returned to town, Google directed us onto the newer roads.
There is apparently a cruise centre in the area though we did not see any ships. We did see the landfill that is next...

If you're Kumanon fan, this is a place for you. It's free to go especially when you go those dates that no cruise line to make a port call, Kumanon are all yours. Hardly anyone is there. Read more-Visited on a Tuesday and it’s not crowded. -The entrance to the park is free -A lot of Kumamon to take photo with -Only 1 shop was open -Access was not easy, there’s a bus from Shin Yatsushiro station and then we have to walk after getting off. Taxi available at the train station so we took taxi instead.
