Oike Spring — Attraction in Yufu

We were on our way to yufuin and decided to take a detour and it was absolutely worth it. It costs 100 yen per person to enter (to contribute to keeping the area clean) and it was a lovely wander around a beautiful forest.

It looks like it is also a starting point to hike up the mountain, but if you just want a leisurely walk, it will take about 15mins and it's very flat and walkable to any abled person, routes are clearly sign posted.

I was there when the trees have turned yellow and it's absolutely stunning. The way the moss growed on the trees were truly magical. Don't forget to take a sip of the Oike...

Short walk to the spring. Super clear water. Interesting trees with roots growing over giant boulders. There must be a path to the waterfalls but maybe it was closed (?).. too bad there's no English sign . But u can drive to the waterfalls too, just...

The actual pond has amazing clear water bubbling up constantly from underneath within the rocks. Bring your water bottle and fill up!
