Ajloun Telfrek Review: A Taste of Tradition in the Heart of Ajloun

Ajloun Telfrek, located in the picturesque town of Ajloun, is a hidden gem that captures the essence of Jordanian culinary heritage. The restaurant’s name, translating to “Telfrek,” evokes a sense of tradition and authenticity, setting the stage for a dining experience rooted in local flavors.

The moment you step into Ajloun Telfrek, you’re greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The décor blends traditional Jordanian elements with a rustic charm, creating a comfortable and homey ambiance that complements the culinary offerings.

The menu is a celebration of Jordanian cuisine, featuring a variety of well-loved dishes prepared with skill and care. Highlights include tender kebabs, flavorful mansaf (a traditional Jordanian dish of lamb and rice), and a range of fresh salads and side dishes. Each dish is crafted using locally sourced ingredients, ensuring a genuine taste of the region.

What sets Ajloun Telfrek apart is its commitment to preserving and showcasing traditional cooking techniques while providing a modern dining experience. The service is attentive and friendly, with staff eager to share their knowledge of the menu and provide recommendations.

Whether you're a local or a visitor, Ajloun Telfrek offers a delightful dining experience that combines great food, warm hospitality, and a genuine connection to...

Total tourist trap. It's like all of the downside of an amusement park with none of the reward.

FOR CONTEXT: It was the prophet's birthday when I visited, so take this review knowing it was during peak traffic.

The concept is cool, and there's something to it; a scenic ride to view beautiful ajloun. But, there's fundamentally no follow through with the idea. Ajloun is gorgeous, and prime for a massive conservation and accessibility push by the Jordanian leadership. Instead, we have a gondola between two stations; the view IS Gorgeous, but is also lined by a bountiful scene of single-use-plastic trash, and the ride leads to and from what I equate to nauseating circus acts. On station 2, was obnoxious music (from the center, to entertain kids, not an individual patron) that truly pierced my frontal lobe while waiting in the most disorganized line I've seen. There was a small souq, which was cool. And, their prices for the trinkets sold seemed reasonable when you speak Arabic to the vendors. But, I was abhorred when I went to station 1 to witness bounce houses and a tiny atv track. It seems to COMPLETELY miss the point of the area.

Good for: not dealing with parking while en route to the castle-park at station 1, ride to 2, and walk to the castle.

Not good for: anyone that is looking for an enriching cultural experience, anyone that has access to transport up the hill...
