This is one of the better parks around which is why I rated it 4 stars, but compared to elsewhere, it definitely would rate a 2-3 start review. Think of this as a local review. There are 2 sets of equipment, one for smaller children and one for bigger kids. There are some fruit trees for some shade and a ring walkway which goes around the inside of the fenced park where kids run, bicycle, etc around. I think technically the bicycles might be against the rules but really there aren't many other places in the area to ride bikes. There is also a swing set and a shaded Cabana and some benches.
The Bad: The equipment is mainly in good condition. One swing has been broken for 6 months and was repaired shoddily with wires wrapped to hold two halves of the chain together. I don't know who fixed it. The ground is covered by sand around the playground for the small children. Unfortunately since Amman has a problem with stray cats, this sandbox is essentially their litter box. Cat excrement can carry disease so I try to avoid playing with my kids in this sand. It doesn't appear to be cleaned often or at all.
Some of the equipment can get very hot in the summer sun, like scalding hot. I would only let older kids with long sleeves and pants on. Unfortunately, in the summer, you have to be very careful about this. Often there are small children dropped off by their parents or guardians at the entrance to the park to sell things. These kids stand there all day in the heat including on school days. I'm honestly not sure how I feel about this, it's a complicated issue. But I bring my kids there to have fun, not to have to think about the complexities of poverty, child exploitation and refugees, and lack of education perpetuating the same poverty (yes, I know it is their reality all-day, every day).
The Good: There is almost always parking. There are a variety of different kids that play here from many different countries. There are gendarmes in the area and the there is some shade to sit under, which is more than many parks have. The area is residential and quiet. There are usually other kids to play with and this is a known hang out spot for many of the nannies in the area. There are multiple different flooring systems, same, grass and padded rubber. It is relatively clean compared to other parks. It is also rather big compared to other parks, but small compared to...
Read moreThis is a lovely park located in the peaceful Dair Ghbar neighborhood. It’s well-maintained and clean, with plenty of space for children to play, climb trees, and for parents to relax and chat while walking, or practice some sport in the dedicated area. The park attracts a diverse and international crowd. I think toilets are under constructions and will be...
