This place is cleary under incompetent management that doesn't care about it & it's marine life ! It needs some serious funding & a new manager. The fact that this place is a part of "Marine Science Station Complex" is a disgrace.
In general all tanks glass are dirty & scratched, many tanks have dead corals & alage, very poor fish type diversity, same fish are recycled in different tanks, information signs above the tanks talks about fishes that you don't see, dead clams, non professional setups that are not suitable for the fish type and size, not a single staff inside the aquarium.
At the entrance you will see a big dirty tank with couple of poor fish in it, next to it you will see a turtle that sit in a shallow very dirty empty tank! That's just abuse (Nice welcoming sign).
The aquarium has a magistic sea turtle but sadly, you can see in it's eyes that she is so depressed, my guess is it because of the small unsuitable tank. There also a poor Nile crocodile (what is he even doing Jordan I don't know) in a very small parameter & dirty water.
The most cool thing you will see is a big Eel but it will just make you sad because of how small and not suitable his tank setup is. No hiding place for the poor thing, at least give him a pvc tube or something. (Same goes for the second small Eel).
The entrance fees for Jordanians is 1JD (more than enough) but if you are a foreign it's 7JD definitely not worth it. Anyone who don't know anything about marine life or the hobby will enjoy it.
This place was amazing and bigger many years ago, I don't know what happened to...
Read moreIn 2022, it is a shame this place is in these conditions. Aquariums are places for children to learn and respect the sea, this place is not educative and disrespectful with nature. Having the name of the university above the entrance is even worse, if this is the standards of the university in Jordan, I would not trust anyone coming out from that university. Jordan has better standards than this. The exhibition should be refocused to education in protection of the sea, keeping a turtle and crocodile alive in such conditions are a shame to humans. Engage the university for real or get international advice, it should not be expensive to make a decent educative centre. Everyone should go and...
