Wadi al-Hassa, also known as Wadi al-Hasa, offers a truly remarkable hiking experience in Jordan, combining natural beauty, clear streams, and rugged adventure. Located in the southern region of the country, this canyon and stream trail is a paradise for nature lovers and thrill-seekers alike.

The hike through Wadi al-Hassa is a mesmerizing journey through diverse and dramatic landscapes. One of the most striking features of this trail is its clear, refreshing streams. The water meanders through the canyon, providing a cooling respite for hikers as they navigate through the rocky terrain. The crystal-clear waters are perfect for a quick dip, making the hike both invigorating and refreshing.

As you venture deeper into the canyon, the towering rock formations become even more impressive. The geological formations here are a testament to the natural forces at work over millennia, with layers of sandstone and limestone creating a visually stunning array of colors and textures. The play of light and shadow across the rocks enhances the beauty of the canyon, making every turn a picturesque moment.

The trail itself is moderately challenging, with sections that require scrambling over rocks and wading through water. This adds a sense of adventure to the hike, making it a favorite among those looking for a bit of excitement. The varying difficulty levels ensure that both novice hikers and experienced trekkers can enjoy the trail, though a good level of fitness is recommended.

In addition to its physical challenges and natural beauty, Wadi al-Hassa offers a serene and tranquil environment. The sound of flowing water, the chirping of birds, and the occasional rustle of wildlife create a peaceful ambiance that is perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Overall, Wadi al-Hassa is a gem of a hiking destination. Its clear waters, adventurous trails, and stunning rock formations make it a must-visit for anyone traveling to Jordan. Whether you are an avid hiker or simply a lover of nature, the beauty and tranquility of Wadi al-Hassa will leave a...

A lovely hiking trail with moderate difficulty. Anyone who has knee issues or joint pain can hike this trail. Now note must be made that the full trail is around 20+km (not sure of the exact number here, so don’t quote me) but the trail I went on was a 4km one only reaching about 1/3 of the full trail.

We hiked and went through one single spot where a helping hand, for some, was required to get through a little water passage. Then we stopped at a specific point and had tea and refreshments. The weather was very hot, but it was ideal for a fantastic tan!

Summer is the best season for this trail, as it gets flooded in winter and you won’t be able to hike it, might not even be allowed in. Speaking of which, it is free of charge and there are no fees to go onto this trail. The only payment you make is for your local hiking guide to take you there by bus and arrange for the whole program.

As for apparel, you can wear whatever you want, but definitely make it comfortable and light enough with good hiking shoes of course. Consider a very tiny fanny pack for your personal belongings. You can easily take them in and not worry about getting the fanny pack wet when walking through the wet parts as long as you wear it across your chest. The deepest wet spot we went through reached to my waist line or a tad over; I’m 173cm. So, you do the math if you measure in feet!

You will most definitely enjoy this trail and the water. It is somewhat warm and not freezing cold like other trails. This is because there are two water sources that meet there, one is fresh water and the other is mineral water;...

I had a wonderful experience in Safi Kitchen Hostel! Ismail and his family offered me all the best possible. In the morning I hiked along the Wadi Al Hasa, guided by Rashid, a very nice and responsible young man. However, if you plan to go hiking, think about wearing good shoes! The food at Safi Kitchen is exceptional, fresh and delicious, home made. I recommend it to anyone who is around the area. Don’t hesitate to stop there, even for a couple of hours, you will not regret it! It's important to point out that this family is leading a program intended to promote the development of the region and help its population. I highly recommend this place. I would go...

Lovely canyon to hike through - we did this on our own with our kids 8+. Wear swim stuff and water shoes and enjoy the views (you don’t have to hire a guide - we parked along the road near the chain link fence for free). Takes about an hour to get to a waterfall/rapids area (the deepest part and the only bit our youngest needed help through). The early area is sadly strewn with rubbish as noted by others but further in is a lot cleaner. We only saw one other group walking it. Enjoyed some lovely swimming too although watch out for the bitey insects that I think were dragonfly nymphs in the water if you go in late July/early August like us!
