Mudawara Castle — Attraction in Maan

There wasn't much left, 3 walls and the yard in between, so it's a shame that they don't take more into account and renovate the little one, at least. But I was happy, for many years I wanted to go there and see, but only now I got the chance and it was worth it. Castle was built as a guard post and last station before the desert into Hijaz as well as a place of relaxation for pilgrims going to Meccah during the Mamluk and Ottoman eras, around year 1495. The last Ottoman Hajj forts in Jordan, located along the historic route to Saudi Arabia, are in urgent need of restoration. These forts, which once served as important waystations for pilgrims journeying to the holy sites, are currently in a state of disrepair. Their architectural significance and historical value make it essential to address their deteriorating condition.
