After much investigation & then experiencing myself here are my recommendations for your visit Don't shave for at least 3 days before. I'd left my legs 3-4 days and they still stung Cover up scratches / cuts with waterproof gauze where possible - I'd had an allergic reaction a few days before and what I just thought was dry skin, caused me absolute agony and even swelling after my swim Wear 2 layers on your bottom half. I wore swimwear bottoms and board shorts. Some that didn't noticed stings that I didn't! Wear swim shoes if you can. It's super rocky for the first couple of metres and the last thing you want is to stub your toe (also would help with balance. My friend fell over and grazed her behind - sure you can imagine how well that went) Remember that Jordan does have a winter. And it will be cold and windy. And the showers do not have warm water, and you'll feel like you are still covered salt until you can get to a warm soapy shower. I was that cold I didn't even do the mud so hate to think how that felt coming off in cold water. The wind makes it hard to float as easy as it looks like in all the photos online, but once you're past the rocks and you make sure you keep your face away from the wind and waves, it's a...
Read moreThere are many beaches across this area but access to this beach specifically is closed. It would be much easier to go to another beach in the area so do not get too stuck on trying to go to this one specifically. Don't get me wrong the dead sea is great and you should definitely go to it, the only problem is the access to this beach is closed. Under this is going to be photos showing the access to the beach to hopefully show you all how it is blocked off (it will also show some of the surrounding area). Again there are many other beaches and even another free one so this is not your only option. About the Dead sea though, you should 10000% go and not only see it but go on it too. It is surreal how much and how easy you can float on it. As a swimmer myself I was able to float upright with half of my chest above the water just because of how salty the water is. Though one thing to think about with the salinity is if you have sensitive skin it will hurt after a while. Make sure to wash yourself after and moisturize to prevent your skin...
Read moreCan I rate this a 0 star?? This beach was DISGUSTING!! First it was 20 dinar each to get in which is pretty spendy. For my husband and I it was $53 just to walk down to the beach. The changing rooms were dirty and smelled like a honey bucket.
As you walk down to the “beach” you see a large garbage pile to the right where it’s overflowing into the water and garbage flying everywhere if the wind picked up. When I got into the water I had to pass chip bags, garbage bags, cans, etc. SO gross and not what you want to be swimming in. I was in the water for maybe 1 minute and the winds picked up causing large waves and the lifeguard ordered everyone to get out of the water.
We went back to the ticket office to see if we could get our $53 back and the lady said no even though we were in the water for 1 minute and surrounded by garbage (that no locals seemed to care about at all). Save yourself and DO NOT go here!! I wish someone would...
