Baraholka is a huge market. Eastern market with its many years tradition of small talk between a customer and a seller. Both win at the end. I believe u can find almoat anything u want and need at this market which is actually a small town with various regions - carpet region, kitchen utensils region, kids toys' region, sewing stuff region, clothing, garden, bathing and so on and so forth. The prices are pretty affordable. It is better to speak some Kazakh to not to be cheated :) My mother bought pillow cases and boot almost half price of city center.
It looks safe but must be careful with your belongings. Better foreigners carry water and snacks. The restaurants might not be attractive for you to eat.

Update 23 April 2023: the entrance bottlenecks are still caused by gypsy taxis picking up patrons on the roadway and stingy people parking there too. Ample new oarking is available. Lots of new multistorey shopping malls are available which is both heated and cooled. Much more organized shopping.
