Came here to camp with my family at Lake Paradise. Better signage would go a long way to help unguided tourists. The view and feel overlooking the lake is worth savoring. It is not easy accessing the edge of the lake if you visualise sandy beaches, it is more like a swamp characterised by grasslands around it. Camping by the viewpoint needs a very gutted adventuror or really great company. We opted for the public campsite. Only unsettling thing was, the first animal we saw was a leopard crossing the road about 5 minutes before getting to site. That's not all, we had hyenas roaming the campsite between 0100hrs and 0300 hours. Thrilling but not for the faint hearted. Campsite has built up sinks, fireplaces, toilets and bathroom with tapped supply of water that may run out at some point. I have had to seat in the car and play guard all night. Considering I had done 2 nights in Samburu with KWS guards patrolling campsites through the night. Talking about cars, the Chinese are currently building parts of the road which are impassable without a 4x4. The landscapes are breathtaking, the forest are surreal, let us see what day 2 brings on...
Read moreQuiet park, amazing nature, montane forest and very accessible. Have three gates to use and Ahmed is the main gate where you have to pay from and then access the park. If you are on MPESA, they will prompt you which is good thus avoiding the long process of using E-citizen. It's rainy season so we didn't get to see many animals but I enjoyed driving through all the three gates to just see and enjoy nature. The Lake Paradise view point is a sight to behold. I think it's best to do nature walks than to drive through. Besides picnics and camping, they also have self catering bandas. They can do game drives but do that when dry as you will get to...
