The Equator Crossing Center in Kenya

A line notionally drawn on the earth equidistant from the poles, dividing the earth into northern and southern hemispheres and constituting the parallel of latitude 0°. Simple terms - a line that divides the world in two equal halves, northern and southern hemisphere. A wonderful place, there is an equator sing post and well stocked suouvennier shops, it's also adjucen to Nanyuki town where there's good hotels and safari lodges overlooking the great mount Kenya.

I However FAULT both National & local governments -Laikipia, Meru & Nyeri counties who share the spoils for NOT doing much at the equator crossing... No tourist information centre, no nothing!

The Equator passes through 13 countries: , Kenya, Uganda, Maldives, Indonesia and Kiribati, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Sao Tome & Principe, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo & Somalia. This is a lost opportunity, ministry of tourism should wake up. #SocialWorkIsAwesome...

Awesome experience, informative service vendors, and adequate open space for the activity of choice. Ample parking, great demonstration of coriolis theory/phenomenon. The space/area is designed and structured with the high number of visitors and their possible needs in mind. Grab something from the souvenior shop(s) of your choice to contribute to the local economy. Refreshments (soda and coffee) available, but I could find no other foodstuff; so carry packed lunch and drinking water if you will stay long at this attraction. The visitor experience has developed organically over the years and is not under central management. Nevertheless, tip the guides who teach you stuff related to the Equator and show you around. Great location for photography and just chilling in Nanyuki. Excellent view of...

A yellow sign 💛stands bold on red soil, declaring zero degrees with quiet pride😌. Here, the world🌍 pauses—north sighs🌬️, south listens👂🏽 and the sun 🌞hangs directly overhead, undecided. Water swirls🌪️ in opposite songs, a Coriolis ballet for curious eyes🧐. Tour guides spin tales with jerrycans and string, while Mount Kenya🏔️ watches from the horizon, amused😊. Children straddle hemispheres like tightropes, feet 👣in two worlds, hearts ♥️in one. And the marker? Just paint and metal— until you feel it😇: the pulse of the planet beneath🤞🏽.

It's an experience going here. As soon as you enter, you get harassed by almost all the shop owners. Be warned....they see white people as money pits and try to overcharge you massively. You need to be strong willed to spend time here. Some of the shop owners get very rude if you dont go to their shop and are extremely pushy. However.... I really enjoy coming here. I have built up a good relationship with several of the nice shop owners and have a laugh and joke with them. I always take new people there for the experience.
