A five star experience. Wondering whether you should go to Ol Jogi? Don't think. Just go. It's a hidden gem that's not talked much about/advertised. It's fairly priced as well (KES 800 for adults + KES 1,000 for car parking.)
The staff are super friendly and super helpful. Our guide Simon Mungai was great and patient. And then there are the two legendary elephant handlers who've been with the elephants for 32 years!. Please tip them!
Things to note: Leave Nanyuki for Ol Jogi early. Preferably before 9 am, especially if you'll not be spending the night in Nanyuki. The place is remote (with no cell network coverage) and the road bumpy for most sections. It's a 1.5 to 2 hrs. drive. It's also easy to get lost. Getting lost (As we did) added 1 hour to our drive
(It's not well labelled, and I still don't know the difference), but if you are going to the Animal Orphanage (WRC - Wildlife Rescue Center), take the right turn once you reach the Dol Dol route junction. Maps shows two directions to the Ol Jogi Wildlife Conservancy. Option A: Continuing straight ahead which is roughly 30 mins, or the Dol Dol route (Right turn) which is 45 minutes from the junction. Going straight ahead is not the animal orphanage route, and most people waste an hour or so heading into that direction
Anyways, highly...

Read moreThe experience was out of this world, it was amazing, highlight was getting so close to the elephants. Our tour guide was very nice, gave us so much information on the park and the animals including back stories that you feel connected to the animals. We were tight on time because we were traveling far, took about 2 hours to do the tour. I would recommend you take your time if yiu can, it's worth it Only downside is the distance for me. We slept in nanyuki but it was quite a drive and the roads are not soo good. Also, to get the best experience, arrive early enough to avoid a rush. If you can stay the night in nanyuki even better. Also, dress appropriately, it gets quite dry and there are some thorns. Overall, I would highly recommend.. Highly. The experience you get beats...
