Lake Naivasha in Kenya is a truly magical destination, offering a serene and unforgettable experience. The calm waters and surrounding scenery create the perfect backdrop for a peaceful escape into nature. We took a guided boat tour, and it was nothing short of amazing. In the early morning, we were lucky enough to see hippos being fed, which was both thrilling and humbling to witness. At one point, our guide bought a few fish from the fishermen, and I was puzzled at first about what he was planning to do with them. To my delight, they were for the eagles! He whistled with his fingers and threw the fish into the lake, and soon the mother eagle swooped down, followed by the father eagle. It was absolutely mesmerizing to watch these majestic birds in action. The tour lasted a little over an hour, and seeing the animals in their natural habitat rather than a zoo brought such peace and joy. Lake Naivasha is a place where nature truly comes alive, and it’s a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Kenya!

How amazing is it to take a boat on a weekend and cruise around in nature's finest. Do you remember the last time you did walk barefoot on soft grass and gazed at the lake with a little bit of wistful thinking?. Living in a chaotic city can really make you appreciate the quite of nature with animal sounds and just get a peaceful mind. Hippopotamus are among the animals that intrigue me much and being there to view them is really amazing. There are various animals such as giraffe and zebras. You definitely want to take your identification documents to show wether you are a citizen, resident or tourist because the charges vary. You also get a chance to see the boys fishing. This is a really good place for family bonding and team building. The boat drivers do act as the tour guides. There is so much peace found in the lake and wild.

One of the best parks I have ever visited. So much wildlife to see and so peaceful and tranquil. Definitely worth doing the boat trip which lasts an hour or so and to really see the beauty of this place. There are birds everywhere and lots of wildlife beside the lake bank. You can see hippos in the water as well as giraffes and other beasts roaming around freely. You can enjoy the water and take in the Amazing surrounding views. There is so much on offer that it is definitely worth it. Loved every single second of the trip to the lake and will definitely be back for a second viewing. You can spend the day here if you wish and just enjoy nature at its best. Was not busy at all so did not feel overwhelmed and crowded. Could not recommend this place enough, it is a must see.

On the way to Lake Nakuru - back or forth, you can stop at Lake Naivasha. It has a pretty big surface and is famous for being a territory of hippos... There are boat rides available from several tour agencies, not specifically cheap... The hippos are often in and under water. So it doesn't mean that going there, you'll see a bunch of them. The boat man will probably show you the group of hippos fed by a big hotel which stays there for an obvious reason... The park where you can see the animals close up is interesting by the wonderful acacias that you will see...The animals are somehow close to domestication....although they will move if you get too close... Lake Nakuru is far more interesting and amazing for observing the wildlife.

Hell's Gate is a very scenic trail of roughly 8km (one way). You have the option of either driving through, bike riding or walking. We chose to hike through the terrain with a guide who was very well informed on the indigenous vegetation and wild life that we encountered. Rock climbing enthusiasts also have options for beginners as well as a more challenging one for advanced rock climbers. Very ideal for group excursions, families etc. Look out for the monkeys if you choose to picnic there.
