Lake Elementaita basin has one of the oldest archeological sites belonging to the Oldowan period, with stone tools dating to 700,000 years ago found at Kariandusi. The Obsidian mines at the Eburru Mountains are evidence of Obsidian trade dating over 3000 years ago. Subsequently, the region was occupied by pastoral Neolithic, later the Maasai pastoral community who called it “Elementaita”. During the colonial occupation, the whole area between Elementaita and Naivasha was taken over and used for livestock and wildlife ranching by Lord Delamere

It was gazetted as a National Wildlife Sanctuary in 2010 and listed together with Lakes Nakuru and Bogoria as the Kenya Lakes System in the Great Rift Valley World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2011. Nice and serine environment Meet with flamingos Walk...

"Absolutely loved Lake Elementaita Orphanage and IBA Bird Sanctuary! 🌟 The staff and rangers were super friendly and competent. Got up close with lesser and greater flamingos, buffaloes, and various bird species. The camping site is a great spot to relax, with hot springs and breathtaking natural beauty. 🌿The peninsula offers stunning views and access to the lake. Appreciate the conservation efforts to protect the flamingos' habitat - no boats allowed to preserve the delicate ecosystem. 🌟 Worth visiting for nature lovers and those seeking tranquility. Highly recommended! Entrance fee is 800 per adult and 400 per a minor, 😊 200 shillings per night for camping with your own gear is...

This is a beautiful place. Just off A104 next to Rubis Kikopey, a 15-25 minute drive in would land you at the KWS gate. Simple service at the gate; with 250/= per adult head and 125/= for children. Students also get the child offer. Cars with less 6 seats pay 300/= and those with more than 6 seats pay 1030/= for the vehicles. Very cool hot springs, beautiful view of the lake and flamingos.

Signs however should be put up to get to the place, lest one gets lost into the wilderness of pure glam views😍. Various wildlife along the road...

Beauty and peace is what you have here. Of you don't make any noise you would here only the birds. Unfortunately the hotel I was staying in was located in the side where flamingos do not come. A must visit place. The lake, birds and quite. There are couple of hotels near the lake to choose from. You could walk-in for the day or stay over. I would strongly suggest stay over.
