Machakos People’s Park is a scenic and well-maintained public space offering free entry and plenty of parking, making it an accessible and family-friendly destination. Known for its lush greenery and peaceful environment, the park provides an ideal setting for relaxation, leisurely walks, or casual outdoor fun. Paved walkways support easy movement for walkers, joggers, and cyclists, while the charming “love corner” swings add a unique, photogenic touch. Visitors can enjoy activities such as zip lining, skating, bouncing castles, and target shooting, with a restaurant available for meals. However, the park could benefit from several improvements. During a weekend visit, food and snack options were limited, and some areas, such as grassy patches, were poorly maintained. Key facilities like the auditorium and conference center remain underused and could be repurposed for events to generate revenue. To enhance its appeal, the park could introduce educational and interactive features like indigenous or exotic tree gardens, herb corners, and water-based games in the pond. With better maintenance, marketing, and expanded amenities, Machakos People’s Park has strong potential to become a vibrant recreational and cultural hub.

It's quite a distance from the main town, but once you get there, you realise Machakos Peoples Park is a small piece of heaven. Set on the plains of Machakos County, the park is a oasis that provides a welcome break from the sun-kissed grasslands that surround the area. It offers a variety of fun activities for children and a good outing options families. Activities include zip lining, mazes, a theme park, trams, merry go round, horse and camel riding, quard bikes, bicycling, hikes, roller coaster, swings, darts, archery, face painting etc Apart from a amazing buffet of fun activities, there are good amenities such as clean and decent washrooms and a well equipped restaurant. You will find vendors across the park offering toys and foodstuffs, as well as services such as instant photography. The security is also good since there is a police post inside and an array of CCTV cameras around the place.

Went on a Sunday afternoon. Arrived at around 3.30pm. WHAT I LOVED: *Plenty of parking space. *Entrance is free (otherwise, entrance fee is only applicable for 10 & above groups of people). *Very green, beautiful and serene. Cool place to relax and unwind. *Love the water fountain, huge peacock structures and giant tires. *Love corner swings are super cute and comfortable. *Walkways are paved so walking and riding bikes around the park is easy. WHAT I HATED *The parking lot outside the park is very poorly maintained. It doesn't look swept, neat or inviting. There's even grass growing over the cabro stones which makes it look very dirty and untidy. (I mean, this is the first thing a visitor sees so first impressions should matter. Clean it up and maintain it properly) WHAT YOU WILL FIND: *Zip Lining *Skating *Bouncing Castles *Target Shooting *Restaurant *Snack Vendor (sweets/soda/biscuits)

Welcome to Machakos People's Park – an incredible destination for individuals, couples, families, and school groups alike. Nestled within this sprawling garden-like oasis lies a vast expanse dotted with seating areas and charming gazebos, making it the perfect retreat for all.

Within the park, you'll discover conveniences galore, from impeccably maintained restrooms to two inviting restaurants and even a conveniently located police station. Moreover, the presence of a conference center adds a touch of versatility to this already enchanting venue.

Entertainment options abound, including a rare maze, which is a delightful novelty in Kenya. On weekends, the park truly comes alive with a plethora of activities catering to the young ones, from bouncing castles to horseback riding, bicycles, swings, and more – ensuring endless enjoyment for children of all ages.

And the best part? There's no admission fee! To reach this haven from Nairobi, simply take the first tarmac turning after the ASK show green wall and continue for several kilometers until you pass the White House (Machakos Governor's Office) on your left. Just a bit farther, you'll find the park on your left after the roundabout.

Situated approximately 15 kilometers from Machakos Junction on Mombasa Road, the park's entrance is nothing short of splendid. The surrounding county exudes cleanliness and offers an abundance of thrilling activities, including zip-lining, miniature golf, merry-go-rounds, biking, horseback riding, and even camel rides.

Numerous seating areas throughout the park provide ample opportunities to relax and soak in the serene atmosphere. Additionally, the park boasts a massive outdoor amphitheater and a tranquil lake perfect for leisurely boat rides.

For those seeking transportation to the town center, options for tuk-tuks are readily available. However, it's advisable to bring your own food and drinks, as the restaurant offerings within the park may not meet everyone's standards. Additionally, the miniature golf course could benefit from some maintenance.

If you're considering hosting an event, don't hesitate – this venue is an absolute gem, offering everything you need for a memorable occasion. After experiencing the wonders of Machakos People's Park, one thing is certain – you'll be eager to return...
