Nairobi National Park Safari Walk — Attraction in Nairobi

I started my day with zest and zeal ready to comb the whole of Nairobi, as a nature lover, I chose to go for the Nairobi Safari Walk, seeing animals in their element gives me joy and make me have a grateful heart. Nairobi Safari Walk is under the Kenya Wildlife Services on Langata Road, there you have other safari and sightseeing to engage yourself in. I was greeted with the cultural dance from the Maasai people, they are nomads and warriors, I decided to give the dance a trial and I had huge fun doing it.

Nairobi Safari Walk is the closest you can get to the wild, it has a raised wooden boardwalk that allows uninterrupted views of the animals, you get to mingle with monkeys and baboons need I say that on two occasions a baboon found me attractive and decided to come at me, I can’t forget this experience so they love fine girls or prolly because I had a little bag and they thought there was food in it. Here, you get to see vast land and trees, rustic natural décor which is pleasing to the eyes, they have wild animals; leopards, hyena, lion (which I got to see up close), Zebra, rhino, antelopes etc. The air is very crisp and pure, the safari is home to 150 species of local trees.

I termed the walk as a long walk to freedom, you will enjoy Kenya’s flora and fauna with showcases Kenya’s vast natural diversity with a breath of fresh air. You get to see three ecosystem on this walk; savannah, forests and wetlands. The walk opens 8:30an to 15:30pm. The way the walk is designed you have places (enclosed and open) where you can sit and eat while watching animals in their habitats, you can also have picnics at different spots. The park is safe for children and babies (it has a children’s museum), you can enjoy the park as a loner, couple or in groups with your buddies or other tourist. This is a great spot for bird watching.

There is so much to see and learn as you walk down the well maintained paths, you hardly notice how time flies, at the end of the walk you emerge into a “look out” viewing section with views straight onto a water hole in the park and at the tree top level of the walk, you can see the aerial view of the whole facility.

The Nairobi National Park situated along the Langata Road, just after the second entrance to the Barracks. The Kenya Wildlife Services are charged with the management of this place in partnership with various other entities. Very welcoming security detail at the entrance, ample parking spaces and in the event that you lose track of where you are or should be due to the vastness of the place, the security personnel or anyone within the office entrances will be more than glad to offer direction. You even then need to know where you are going. Split into three major visiting options, the orphanage offers; a.) The orphanage with caged animals that you may see upclose, ranging from the cranes, parrots, guinea fowls, worthogs, numerous Lions including cubs, leopard, wild dogs, hyenas, buffaloes, crocodiles, various monkey species and the list goes on. These receive special medical attention from vets and other park attendants before they're released back to the wild I believe. There's an entrance fee charged at the gate, some not so exhobitant rate for non-nationals and a subsidised amount for nationals - only remember to bring along your identity card or passport. b. The nature trail is an elaborately designed wooden walk board with guard rails to Keep one from going over. The idea is to get to see the animals in their natural habitat. You are also required to make payment at the entrance, I believe it's the same amount as that charged at the orphanage. c. You may opt to lastly do a game drive using your own vehicle or could have KWS make arrangements for a vehicle. You may need to be accompanied by a ranger, but the rates are very friendly. You may bring your own snacks, as long as you DO NOT feed the animals. I believe they also have a restaurant for those interested. Quite an interesting place to spend the day connecting...
