A Tranquil Retreat Amidst Nature
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Wajee Nature Park, nestled in the picturesque Mukuruwe-ini region of Central Kenya. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the serene ambiance and natural beauty that envelops this hidden gem.
Scenic Beauty:
The park is set amidst the spectacular country between Mt. Kenya and the Aberdares, offering breathtaking views of lush greenery, rolling hills, and pristine forests.
Whether you’re strolling along the nature trails or simply sitting by the tranquil pond, the surroundings invite you to unwind and connect with nature.
Delicious Traditional Food:
The meals at Wajee Nature Park are a delightful surprise. Traditional Kenyan dishes are lovingly prepared, and the flavors are simply divine.
I recommend trying their hearty stews, nyama choma, freshly baked chapatis, and aromatic chai. It’s like a culinary journey through Kenya’s rich culinary heritage.
Charming Accommodations:
The quaint cottages, with their thatched roofs, evoke a sense of rustic charm. Each room is well-kept, self-contained, and provides a cozy retreat after a day of exploration.
Hot showers and comfy bedding ensure a good night’s rest, allowing you to wake up refreshed and ready for more adventures.
Birdwatcher’s Paradise:
Wajee Nature Park is home to the highly endangered Hinde’s Babbler. With the help of knowledgeable guides, I had the privilege of spotting these elusive birds.
Birdwatchers will be in their element, surrounded by avian wonders and the melodious calls of forest dwellers.
Hanging Tree Mystery:
During my nature trail, I encountered the enigmatic “hanging tree.” Its twisted branches and ancient presence left me wondering about its history.
It’s moments like these that make Wajee Nature Park truly special—a blend of adventure, mystery, and natural wonder.
In summary, Wajee Nature Park is a place where time slows down, and you can immerse yourself in Kenya’s natural heritage. Whether you’re a birder, a food enthusiast, or simply seeking tranquility, this park won’t disappoint. Highly recommended! 🌿🦜🌄

First, you're welcomed by very amiable staff and they will guide and direct you all the way.
They even suggest potentially enjoyable activities for you depending on your comments.
The prices are also awesome- everything from the entry fee to the price of the sleeping tents and everything that goes with them is super affordable.
Regarding what you can do here, there's no shortage of nice to-dos including camping on the ground near the main gate to walking the natural trails in the forest that is mainly made of indigenous trees.
Sure, it is relatively small especially if you're a serious hiker like myself but the trails are very refreshing- cool, quiet with only the occasional birds chirping and there's dense vegetation surrounding you.
There are also a few kids activities including swings and a small playing field - I saw a football being played by teens though i forgot to ask if it is provided by the park management.
There are also seminar/conference halls if you're looking for a quiet place to take your team for a conference- remember you can also come here for team building activities.
They also provide accomodation- though I did not see many rooms- if you want to spend a few days rewinding.
Kids also learn a little about bee-keeping (by the way buy their natural honey because you'll love it) and compositing (students taking agriculture may want to learn about making compost manure).
In short, it's a little nice park for those looking for a...

It's a two hour drive from the city thru Muran'ga and the drive is scenic and road pretty smooth . It's a 40 minutes drive to Nyeri town or Karatina town and say 2 hours to Nanyuki town. Enjoy as you discover...
