n the Embu-Meru highway the Nithi River Bridge has a stopover near the bridge where you can take a brake on your road trip from the long bendy up and down road which is a joy to drive on but has it's hazards with it's blind spots. The resting point will give you a chance to take in the stunning views of the hills, valleys and rivers. P.S. Drive safely and keep yourself and your passages safe by not making dangerous overtaking.

Built in 1983; that points at a good bridge, seeing it hasn't been defective. However, it's high time this bridge known for fatal accidents is given a new face. An irritation is that some drivers do overtake even right on this bridge. Oh yes, they do it speeding. That's something beyond RECKLESSNESS. Shame on such motorists. Poor analysts. There are lots of meanders towards this place and some blind spots.

The bridge is preceded by long and steep descents from both sides. It is classiffied as a black spot, therefore caution to drivers and riders to drive at slow speed. No overtaking when descending. Otherwise when caution is exercised, it is an awesome drive experience.

The Nithi Bridge stands as one of Kenya’s most remarkable and daring engineering achievements. Located along the busy Meru–Nairobi highway, it spans the deep and scenic Nithi River valley in Tharaka Nithi County. The bridge plays a vital role in linking the eastern highlands to central Kenya, making it an essential part of the country’s transport network. Travelers crossing the bridge are often struck by its impressive height and the breathtaking view of the valley below.

Over the years, Nithi Bridge has gained both admiration and concern. While it symbolizes progress and connectivity, it has also been known as a black spot due to its sharp approaches and winding curves that require careful driving. The construction of a newer and more robust bridge beside the old one greatly improved safety and efficiency, accommodating heavier vehicles and increasing road capacity.

Beyond its functionality, the Nithi Bridge has become a notable landmark attracting photographers, tourists, and road travelers alike. Its surroundings offer a blend of natural beauty and architectural brilliance, making it a memorable point along the journey between Meru and Nairobi. Overall, Nithi Bridge is not just a crossing but a testament to Kenya’s infrastructure growth and commitment to...

Nithi River Bridge is a sight to behold. From it's height high up, down the river is a pool of scrap metal. A painful reminder of accidents as vehicles driving down the steep meandering valley towards the bridge lose control and veer off the bends flying several meters down the bridge. Very few, if any, survive the horror.

Motorists are advised to strictly follow the roadsigns and stick to the advised speed limits to avoid veering off the sloppy sharp bends that lead to the bridge.

For heavy trucks, low gears are advised as the slopes are several kilometers long and can strain the breaking-system leading to failure and subsequent accidents.

Freewheeling at this blackspot stretch is strictly discouraged, especially in automated system...

this is the famous bridge along the meru-nairobi highway in between chuka and chogoria. its one of the seasonal rivers in the larger meru draining its waters to tana river in the lowlands.

the nithi river bridge is the notorious BLACKSPOT on the highway having killed more than 1000 people per year . new motorists should be cautious of the spot and drive slowly.

the spot is characterised by a steep downhill and uphill with very sharp bends and the bridge itself is situated on a bend. the bridge is...
