I recently visited Kumbakarai Falls, and I was absolutely blown away by its beauty. The falls are located in the foothills of the Kodaikanal Hills, and they are absolutely stunning. The water cascades down the rocks in a series of beautiful waterfalls, and the surrounding scenery is simply breathtaking. I visited the falls during the monsoon season, and the water was flowing at its fullest. The falls were absolutely roaring, and the sound of the water was deafening. It was an incredibly powerful and invigorating experience. The falls are located a short drive from Periyakulam, and they are easily accessible by car. There is a small parking lot at the top of the falls, and there is a short walk to the viewing area. The viewing area is well-maintained, and there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view. I highly recommend visiting Kumbakarai Falls if you are ever in the area. It is a truly magical place, and it is an experience that you will never forget. Here are some of the things I liked about Kumbakarai Falls: The beauty of the falls is simply breathtaking. The sound of the water is deafening and invigorating. The falls are easily accessible by car. The viewing area is well-maintained. Here are some of the things I didn't like about Kumbakarai Falls: The falls can be crowded during peak season. There are no facilities at the falls, so you will need to bring your own food and water. The falls can be slippery, so be careful when walking around. Overall, I had a great experience at Kumbakarai Falls. It is a truly magical place, and it is an experience that you will never forget.

The Kumbakkarai Falls is a scenic, peaceful and pleasant waterfall that can be found in the state of Tamil Nadu, in Dindigul district. The district of Dindigul is about 9 kilometres away from the town of Periyakulam, which is a municipality in Theni district in the region of Madurai. Located in the foothills of the Kodaikanal Hills, the Kumbakkarai Falls is one amongst the many well-known Falls in the same region. The water of this waterfall originates in the Kodaikanal Hills and flows down the rocks in two natural stages. In the first stage, the water collects in the deep cradles of a wide rock, then flows down a stretch of 0.5 km in the form of the Pambar River, before it drops down into a breathtaking waterfall over a steep rock face. The pools formed by the river in the first stages of the waterfall are named after various wild animals such as elephants, lions, tigers, snakes, etc. Kumbakkarai is the spot where the water of the river drops at the foothills of the Kodaikanal Hills. This area in the foothills has become a popular tourist spot now, as people visit this place from all over the country to take in its natural, scenic beauty. The peace and tranquillity of this place, along with a soothing expanse of undisturbed nature makes it the perfect getaway for city-dwellers. Tourists are also allowed to bathe in the waters of the Kumbakkarai Falls. The crystal-clear water of the Falls is enriched with natural minerals and herbs which has incredibly therapeutic benefits as well.

This is one of a underrated waterfalls in south. Not many aware of it. It's located between Madurai and Theni, 2 nearby known cities. It is much recommended to go by individual car. If got to rely upon Govt transport, you shall get bus from both Madurai and Theni but the frequency may be less. Got decent amount of car parking space. Entry ticket has to be taken. It is managed by Reserve Forest Police. The entry Fare is around 20 INR per person. You got to walk for about 500 to 750 m to reach the falls. The road will be slightly uphill to some distance and then will be downhill. Battery car service is there but not sure if there are any timings. When we went there it wasn't operational for most of the timing. About the water falls, you got 2 set of points. 1 the real falls which is bit small in size but gives you Good experience. Got steps to reach there. The other one is a flat area where you can sit in the water and enjoy. Both the places were good. There is a separate space for changing dresses. Shops are there to eat snacks or food. Overall, it is a recommendable place to enjoy for a day! PS: Be check that there's water flow & entry allowed when you plan the travel. There's a high chance that either of it shall happen on a given date.

Very clean water. Small falls . Water flows after monsoon. Came to know that it goes dry during summer. Safe for women, family and children. Tiny flows for tots are seen.. kids really enjoyed a lot. As we take right down the stairs , a small bridge is seen, water from the falls flows there as stream, giving a comfort for bathing but as many people get themselves straight under the water fall, it gives a uncomfortable feel to bath there. Good that people don't use shampoo or soap . Very cold water even at 12 noon. 2 rooms for women to change clothes. But one of the rooms was not very clean n unable to use. So had to wait in queue to dress up. A near by pay n use wash room is there. Neatness wise quite ok. Water has to be carried from outside. One or 2 small shops are there selling some packet snacks , cut fruits and limited water bottles. For food either we have to pack ours or one should go to either periya kulam or batlagundu. Definitely a good place worth visiting when there is water. Paid parking is available. The road that takes to the falls is very neat and comfortable for ride . One can enjoy rides through the shades of very big mango trees .

It is a good chill out place and an underrated waterfalls, around 8km from Periyakulam it is closer to Madurai and Theni district people. The timings are 8AM to 4PM, need to pay 50rs as parking fee for panchayat and 30 rs per person for entry to forest Dept. It is advisable to check with the officials about water flow before walking 400 ms uphill to the falls. During summer the water flow will be less and during monsoons sometimes it will be closed due to floods. There are around 10 shops for tea and other refreshment outside and food is not allowed near falls. Dress change available for ladies, It's good to note that drunkards not allowed and tobacco products are banned to falls entry making it a good place to take bath with families. Overall it's a good place to visit while traveling to kumily/Thekkady/Munnar.since its ontheway. There's a route available to kodaikanal via Kumbakarai falls via adukkam and its a good isolated road to travel with friends!!
