The waterfalls them self and the settings were beautiful, 35000 kip entrance fee , the beaches , well , strange , the sand today was el scorchio, seriously even through flip flops , took a dip in the river from the farthest 'beach' , which I swear was sprinkled with gold ...never seen sand like it , it was like fairytale sand..incredible!!!!!! There's a dip wire here too , didn't see anybody on it for the few hours I spent there. It was 2500000 kip , hope that's correct . Beware the currents are phenomenally strong ...do not allow children in the river from the farthest beach , just too dangerous.. Bars and sun beds all very run down and barely looked open ...but I had a pleasant walk around , quick swim and a little lye in the sun...

I went to all waterfalls, including 2 here on don khon island. Although this one is clean and well maintained, I did not find it all that great given its price tag @35000K And must say the Khone pa soi waterfall on the other side of the island beats this one. which is (at least for now) free of charge, amazing given the fact that even meaningless sites find their self's a gate keeper. ( but then that one is messy) However not as good as the bigest one of 50000K, although i did not find that one all that big and spectacular either. Now all that water does make one thirsty and whilst most shops in laos tend to sell more expensive water expect to pay double here. That is 10KK or a whole euro for a bottle of just drinking...

These falls are not the largest, but still quite natural. There is even a few beatches accessible walking about 30 minutes. It is not recommended to swim because stream is strong, but you can easily cool your feet. Some of the most fearless were swimming in quiet areas. Falls are easily accessible by bike from the Khon Tai or Khon towns. You need to pay to access the site, and bikes need to stay outside. The site is evolving, zip lines are being constructed. In a few months several zip lines will go through the the falls. Pleasing for youngsters, giving great views over the falls, producing money for the company managing it... but changing the natural aspect...

Very impressive, we were during the end of the rainy season so the Mekong river was very high with water. I highly recommend to pay the extra 12$ to go over the 5 bridges that allow you to walk just above the water very close to the waterfall, a terrific experience.
