Description
Lake Engure is a lake in the western part of Latvia, in the Talsi District. It is the third largest lake in the country after Lake Lubāns and Lake Rāzna. Lake Engure is an ancient sea lagoon, divided from the sea by a 1.5 - 2.5 km wide sand bar with dunes. Its outflow is the artificial Mersraga channel, dug in 1842.

It's a shallow brackish lake with great views and good bird spotting places. It is wild yet easily accessible from highway by multiple roads. Good for nature lovers and bird watchers. Especially during the bird...

Озеро Энгуре – самое большое озеро лагунного типа в Латвии. Когда-то здесь была лагуна Литоринового моря, а значит тысяч пять лет назад это озеро было в составе Балтийского моря. Озеро Энгуре протянулось на 6 км, его максимальная глубина достигает 2-3 м. Название Энгурес происходит из языка ливов и означает «угорь».
