Ķengaraga promenāde — Attraction in Riga

Wonderful place for a stroll along the river, especially on a hot day - the trees hide you from the sun heat, and a light breeze from the river keeps you cool. Lovely views, and some good playgrounds for the kids to climb. There's a coffee dispenser somewhere mid-way but I wish there was a van that sold ice cream, water and some snacks or hot dogs for the thirsty and hungry visitors. Another idea for the responsibles - you can sell actual bird food there, instead of letting people feed the ducks and swans with whatever costs less in the nearby supermarket. Popular walking path along the coast of the river with quite long distance ~ 10-15km. Start point begins at bouling (Lido as orientier) and ends at Dārziņi. Possible to feed up birds, use the bicycle, running and make sports activities along the separate bicycle lane. There are also a few instalation for kids. Aviable benches, toilets and birds watching tower. Great view opens Daugava river along the lane. However this place is also popular among homeless and drunk people, so evening time is not the savest...

Great for walks during all seasons, except summer because the pedestrian path is quite narrow, and that results in huge traffic. Terrible for cycling because the cycling path is even narrower than the pedestrian one, and its pavement is already damaged or overgrown in most parts. There are places where you can go near the river shore to see ducks and swans. There's a beach area available, and an exercise area located near both ends...
