The Riga Motor Museum in Latvia is a fantastic place for anyone who loves cars, history, or just exploring something new. The museum has a huge collection of classic and vintage cars, from early 1900s models to more recent iconic vehicles. Each car is beautifully restored, making it feel like you’re stepping back in time. The displays are set up in a way that makes it easy to follow the story of cars over the years.
One of the coolest parts of the museum is its collection of Soviet-era cars. You can see cars that were once used by top Soviet leaders, including cars that belonged to famous figures like Stalin and Brezhnev. There’s even a car with visible damage from a crash Brezhnev was in – they kept it that way to show its history. There’s also a replica of an old Latvian car brand, Russo-Balt, which is a nice touch that shows off Latvia’s role in early car manufacturing.
The museum has interactive displays, which make the experience fun and engaging. You can get up close to some of the cars, sit in a few, and try out different activities. This makes it especially great for families with kids, who can touch and explore instead of just looking at everything from a distance.
The only downside is that the ticket price might seem a bit high. The experience is worth it, but the cost is something to keep in mind if you’re on a budget. There’s also a small café in the museum where you can take a break and enjoy a snack or drink, which is a nice extra.
Overall, the Riga Motor Museum is a great visit, especially for car fans. It’s a bit pricey, but the unique cars and interactive features make it a...

Unfortunately I didn't take many pictures and only stayed for about 1.5 hours, but I think I could have stayed for 3 for 4 hours easily!
There are a wide range of vehicles to look at; vintage cars, race cars, motorcycles, and even bicycles! I also enjoyed the vintage radio exhibit showcasing radios made in Riga.
My favorite were the Soviet cars since I do not have many chances to see them where I come from.
I went on a tour with an English-speaking guide. His English was very good, and he spent just the right amount of time on each piece and gave interesting facts about them.
The facility is spectacular! I have also been to the Ferrari factory museum and I would put this facility on par with the Ferrari museum. The building is nice, the vehicles are interesting, the gift shop has nice models, and the cafe has good food at reasonable prices. The best part is, you can have lunch outside while watching cars on the adjacent race track!
I will definitely come back by myself and spend several hours taking pictures of the cars and hopefully spend some time on the track as well. I can't think of a better day for a motorhead!
TIP: Don't forget to go downstairs to the bottom floor! This is where the bicycles are and several vintage cars made in Riga. The guide said many guests aren't aware that there is a whole other...
Read moreReally interesting place even though you are not into cars. A lot of history and activities for all kind of people. Few rare car models. A lot of historical cars. Riga had a car factory so it is interesting to see what car models was popular in different times. A lot of activities for children. Pity that some of the activities are only in Russian language, but it is a part of our Baltic states history which you can see in this museum through a different angle (through car windows :)). You can have a party there, if you want to have some theme for a childs birthday. To sum up, it is a cheap entrance fee museum with a lot of history but be ready to hear Russian language. By the way, this museum is in the top 10 of European museums. It is reached by a few very rare models (f.e. silver bullet) and interactive...
