Amazing. The view is truly impressive. The trails are fully maintained and beautiful. Even the other forest trails are wonderful. The surrounding forest is clean, without bushes growing out of place 🤣. If you have time - it is definitely worth a walk in the surroundings. Passing the trail through the rocks - you feel like you are in real small mountains. It is a pity that the trail along these wonderful rocks is short - I wanted more 🙃. Sietiņiezis rocks belong to the E11 forest trail of the European Baltic States (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia), which is as long as 2141 km. Read moreSietiniezis is a natural wonder located in the Gauja National Park in Latvia. It's white sandstone outcrop of about 15 meters high and 400 meters long. The surface is porous with holes, cracks and lines that resembles a sieve. The name of the rock is supposed to be taken from the Latvian world "Sieve Rock". The magic of the enhanced by the Gauja river on one side and scenic pine forest on the other. It takes about an hour to hike the trail along the sandstone hill and return to the starting point through the pine forest on wooden walking trails. The route itself is quite short, ~1.5 km, but there are a lot of stairs on the route, so the trail is not suitable for people with mobility impairments and the elderly. The road conditions almost everywhere nearby the river in Gauja National Park are really, really poor - consider an offroad vehicle for this kind of adventure.
