This site in Taanayel was the 158 years old farm established in the year 1860 by the Jesuits Fathers who came as missionaries to Lebanon during the Ottoman reign. The farm is located at 45 km from Beirut and at 900 m altitude. It has an area of 230 ha planted with a variety of forage crops, wine grapes, and fruits, in addition to a farm for cows, a dairy products’ processing factory. Taanayel farm is known for its man-made lake and its charming long alleys and pathways lined with trees. Between 1975 and 2009 the farm and its agricultural fields witnessed deterioration in productivity and accumulated financial losses because of the war impacts and the difficult situation of the agricultural sector in Lebanon. Therefore, in 2009 the Jesuits Fathers asked arcenciel to manage the farm and the agricultural fields of Taanayel. Four years after the beginning of this partnership, the Taanayel farm became a pilot agricultural exploitation and a model of innovation and new technologies integration to the agricultural sector. In addition to the agricultural production, arcenciel developed a tourism strategy and implemented many activities to promote responsible and educational tourism inside the farmland. Read moreI used to live nearby, this place means a lot to me. I used to go their for free. Now you have to pay money, it's not a problem as long as they are making it a better place. One day i paid and after entering they told we have to close in 1 hour. Another day i paid for 6 people then my brother went back and bought a horse ride (which includes entrance) but they didn't pay us back what we already paid for entrance 5 minutes before. Parking area is big but not all places are equipped with sun shades for cars More animals must be brought, it is a very big place with only cows, 3 horses, some rabbits who stays sleeping inside and ducks They should have bout trips in water, they will make money from it. Lot of things to do in this place., you can start by visiting the Church then visiting the Grotto of saint Lourdes after that you can have a small things to eat or to drink refreshments especially the fresh Lemonade. Then you can ride a bike for about 6$/hour or have a walk inside inside the forest to reach the amazing lake with beautifull nature surronding this place. There are ducks in the lake where you can feed them. Finally and before living you can pass to their diary shop where you can buy diary products which they produce in their own farm.
