A Nightmare in Paradise: A One-Star Review of Palmera Resort
My recent stay at Palmera Resort was nothing short of a nightmare. Touted as a luxurious getaway, this establishment is, in reality, a disgrace to the hospitality industry. My experience was marred by appalling conditions, woeful management, and a blatant disregard for basic cleanliness and guest comfort. This review aims to highlight the glaring deficiencies I encountered, warning potential visitors to steer clear of this so-called resort.
Upon arrival, the façade of Palmera Resort seemed promising, but the illusion quickly shattered. Entering my room, I was greeted by a pungent odor that hinted at the horrors to come. The sight that met my eyes was nothing like the pristine images advertised online. The room was a breeding ground for insects, with bugs crawling on the floors, walls, and even the furniture. It was a clear indication that cleanliness was not a priority for the management.
The bedding situation was equally appalling. The sheets and pillows were visibly dirty, stained with what appeared to be remnants from previous guests. The pillows emitted a musty smell, suggesting they hadn’t been washed in ages. As I pulled back the sheets, I was horrified to find more bugs nestled within, a disgusting revelation that made sleep impossible. It’s a basic expectation that resort accommodations should provide clean and hygienic bedding, but Palmera failed miserably on this front.
Adding to the list of horrors were the spider webs that adorned the corners of the room and the ceiling. These weren’t just minor webs but extensive ones that suggested long-term neglect. The presence of spiders and other pests made it clear that regular maintenance and cleaning were foreign concepts at Palmera Resort. I felt like I was staying in a derelict building rather than a place that claimed to offer a relaxing and comfortable experience.
The situation took a turn for the worse when I sought assistance from the management. Instead of addressing the issues and offering a proper resolution, they provided us with a room in what could only be described as a rundown motel for the night. This so-called solution was a slap in the face. The motel room was in a deplorable state, mirroring the filthy conditions of the resort itself. It was evident that Palmera Resort did not care about the well-being or satisfaction of their guests.
My experience at Palmera Resort was nothing short of traumatic. The level of filth, the infestation of bugs, and the management’s ineptitude were shocking. This place is a health hazard and should be avoided at all costs. It’s a testament to the poor standards and lack of professionalism that such an establishment is still in operation. I strongly advise anyone considering a stay at Palmera Resort to think twice and choose a place that actually values cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
In conclusion, Palmera Resort deserves nothing more than a one-star review. It fails on every conceivable level of hospitality, providing a filthy and uncomfortable environment that no guest should endure. Save yourself the disappointment and find a resort that truly delivers on its promises. Palmera Resort is a nightmare dressed as a vacation destination, and I regret every moment...

We stayed for two nights with family and rented two chalets, all paid for well in advance. Check-in? We arrived at noon, were allowed into the resort, but had to wait until 2pm for keys. Annoying, but fine.
The beach was beautiful and the pool looked promising. By the end of day one, we thought we were in for a great time.
Then day two hit and the resort's attitude completely changed.
My grandmother was approached by a lifeguard and told her one-piece swimsuit (which included shorts/skirt) was “not allowed.” This was never mentioned before. I was wearing a one-piece with swim shorts the day before with zero issue. But now? I was being told to take them off. Why? No explanation. Just inconsistent and frankly invasive enforcement of arbitrary “rules.”
Later, we had breakfast — sandwiches we made ourselves — far from the pool, near the beach view. Suddenly staff were telling us they’d “turned a blind eye.” Turned a blind eye to… eating? Meanwhile, families around the pool were openly bringing snacks and coffee trays with no problem. So, the rules either don’t apply to everyone or they’re just enforced selectively.
We were also told no pets allowed when we booked. Yet, during our stay, we kept hearing dogs barking from another chalet. So either the no-pets rule is just a lie, or it's only enforced when convenient.
To top it all off: when we checked out at 1pm (we were told we could enjoy the pool for the rest of the day), we moved our cars to the outside parking lot and were told we had to pay for it. Yes, they tried to charge us for parking in the dirt outside the resort after checkout. Make it make sense.
Oh and Wi-Fi? Not included. You have to pay extra per device. After paying a hefty amount for the chalets themselves.
This place is all about appearances — and squeezing every possible cent from guests while treating them like they’re doing something wrong for relaxing. Beautiful location, ruined by petty policies, double standards, and a total lack of respect for paying customers.

Read moreIf you care about hygiene even one bit, then run the other way! We were given Chalet 12 for the night. This Chalet has probably not been updated since the resort opened. The room was freezing when we arrived (and the AC was dripping), and we were very matter of factly told that the AC can either be on or off, there is no remote to control it. Not to mention that we had to use our own towels as bed sheets and covers because nothing looked or smelled clean. The shower doesn’t have a curtain, and taking a shower meant getting the whole bathroom wet. There was also a party happening on the property that night, and it went on till about 3:00am, the music was very loud and can be heard inside the chalet. The 2 stars I gave are because the pool area is acceptable, the kids had a fun time, and they apparently clean the...
