This place carries lots of history and has been at the crossroads of many civilizations. The fort is overlooking the entire location from a strategic hill. It needs further restaurarion and more focus from the Ministry of Tourism, however this should not stop you from making it a must-see location when you visit the souh and enjoy Tebnine. I hope next time I can take my kids through a 10-15min guided tour to explain to them the strategic importance of this place in southern Lebanon's history. Last but not least, the souroundig of the fort reminds the visitor of the peaceful and harmonious coexistence of Lebanese Muslim and Christian population. You will notice beautiful churches and mosques...

Nice remains of a very large fortress overlooking the hills and plains around it and Mt Hermon. Unfortunately, there is no proper parking, entrance or safety measures within the site. There is barely a space for a few cars to park. The castle is open and there was no fees to pay. There are several pits within the site and the surrounding is dangerous for kids as there are no rails to prevent people from falling. Therefore the visitor should be careful when walking around. It is still a must see place when...

It's a very nice castle if they take care of it. And said to be built during the Crusader Period (12th century): The castle was built around 1105 CE by Hugh of Fauquembergues, the second Crusader Lord of Galilee, after the Crusaders had taken control of the area. It was named Toron, after a fortress in France. Its purpose was to protect Crusader supply lines and dominate the trade and military routes between Tyre and northern Palestine
