Ruins of the Byzantine, Roman and Phoenician times. Looking at the size and the sheer architecture, can only imagine what it might had been back in the golden days. Today, all that remains is the Necropolis, Hippodrome and a port. Walking through the streets once they were, you reach the other end where the sea meets land, aka the port, a breathtaking view here indeed. Giving a star less as it's in a total neglect today with bushes and shrubs all over. You cannot even walk through safely without being scraped by these thorny bushes, add to it the litter of plastic bottles and garbage all around. Read moreExceptional beauty here, although not nearly as amazing as Baalbek or Byblos. The cost was 6000 Lebanese pounds for a local at 120,000 for a foreigner . In November 2022 this was about four US dollars. There is also a man selling old coins that he found near that site that is very interesting. You were able to do a pretty good walk, although not much commentary. They do have a nice map at the beginning which I’ve snapped a picture of. You can also go about without being accosted by anyone :-) you can take your own pace and stay as long as you want. It is the best especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset....
