Ruins of the Byzantine, Roman and Phoenician times. Looking at the size and the sheer architecture, can only imagine what it might had been back in the golden days. Today, all that remains is the Necropolis, Hippodrome and a port. Walking through the streets once they were, you reach the other end where the sea meets land, aka the port, a breathtaking view here indeed. Giving a star less as it's in a total neglect today with bushes and shrubs all over. You cannot even walk through safely without being scraped by these thorny bushes, add to it the litter of plastic bottles and garbage all around. I hope they really do something about it before it is lost and forgotten again. The entrance is...

The Tyre World Heritage Site is an extraordinary destination that offers a deep dive into the rich history of one of the oldest cities in the world. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Tyre is renowned for its well preserved archaeological treasures, including the ancient Roman Hippodrome, the Necropolis, and the Egyptian Port. Walking through the site, you can explore the remnants of Phoenician, Roman, and Byzantine civilizations. The Hippodrome, with its grand stands and detailed carvings, is particularly impressive and gives a sense of the grandeur of ancient chariot races. The Necropolis, with its intricate tombs and monuments, offers a poignant glimpse...

Exceptional beauty here, although not nearly as amazing as Baalbek or Byblos. The cost was 6000 Lebanese pounds for a local at 120,000 for a foreigner . In November 2022 this was about four US dollars. There is also a man selling old coins that he found near that site that is very interesting. You were able to do a pretty good walk, although not much commentary. They do have a nice map at the beginning which I’ve snapped a picture of. You can also go about without being accosted by anyone :-) you can take your own pace and stay as long as you want. It is the best especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset....
