WOW. A beautifully restored manor house and all it's out buildings. Built well before the soviets...and germans...invaded. The town itself became a "cooperative" center for the area. You will see the decaying factories, warehouses and apartment blocks that were built by the soviets. The town also has a wonderful catholic church. You can go right to the top of the manor house and view the surrounding countryside...and imagine a lost time of peasants and lords. Ne Gelgaudiškio, o MELAGIŲ dvaras! Internete nurodomas darbo laikas – šeštadieniais iki 18 valandos. 2023 m. gegužės 13 d., šeštadienį, atvažiuojame iš Vilniaus. 16 val. dvaras uždarytas, jokios informacijos nėra, telefonu niekas neatsiliepia. Internete rašoma, kad dvaras dirba. Pusvalandį pavaikščioję aplinkui, išvažiuojame. Kadangi nakvojome Jurbarke, nutarėme pakeisti planus ir sekmadienį grįžti į Gelgaudiškį. Vis arčiau negu iš Vilniaus. Prieš tai vėl pasitikslinome internete. Radome, kad dirbs ne nuo 12.00, kaip priklauso vasaros sekmadieniais, bet tik nuo 13.00. Ką gi, naiviai patikime, geranoriškai paspėliojame apie kokias nors nenumatytas aplinkybes. Atvažiuojame šiek tiek anksčiau. Laukiame. 13.00 internetas praneša, kad dvaras atidarytas. Tačiau durys užrakintos, kabo ta pati lentelė „Uždaryta“, telefonu niekas neatsiliepia. Po pusvalandžio nusispjauname ir išvažiuojame. Aikštelėje lankytojų transportui stovi aštuoni automobiliai ir du motociklai. Nuotaika sugadinta, vėl papildomi kilometrai pirmyn ir atgal, veltui sugaištas laikas, nespėta aplankyti kitų numatytų vietų. PIKTA ir APMAUDU! Gal Gelgaudiškio dvaras ruošiasi atlyginti finansinę ir moralinę žalą apgautiems lankytojams? Beje, paskaičiusi senesnius atsiliepimus matau, kad...

I was there at night, it was dark already. But even if I didn't see a thing, it was a huge place. There were some lights, so I saw the main building from all three sides. I didn't see all the green'ness of the place, but I'll come back. The only minus, is that the parking is so confusing. Don't trust P letters :) If you visit this place, make sure its daytime. It is a big and beautiful place...
