It's an abandoned fort. It's not guarded and many parts are pretty dark so I suggest bringing a strong flashlight to explore the whole thing better, phone flashlight will not be enough since this place has very dark and long tunnels.
Seems like they tried to renovate it at one point but it only messed negatively with it's natural abandoned beauty, I hope they leave it as is or even take out those lights they installed for some reason.
I also suggest reading the history of it before visiting to be able to experience the vibes fully. Also september is the best month to go visit all the forts. For this one, no tickets are necessary just be careful and...
Read moreKauno I - fortas yra gynybinių pastatų sistema, išlikusi iki šių dienų. Aplankyti verta. Visa tai - nemokama. Yra mobilus viešasis tualetas. Kultūringa. Kaunas I - fort is a system of defensive buildings that has survived to this day. The location is large, with the surviving fort buildings. While there are stands that inform that the area is being monitored and supervised, it seems to be just simple information. While there, the advice is to pick up a spotlight if you want to go to darker corridors. There are hanging tables in some places prohibiting access to the tunnels because bats live there. Be aware. You need to be very careful when walking, as the area is overgrown with grass and there may be some dangers ahead. For example, I had to detect an uncovered ventilation opening that goes up from the depths of the forts. You can see she is deep. Accidental falls would be a big problem. Full of all kinds of passages, dark rooms, niches. Worth a visit. It's all free. There is a mobile public...

Very interesting atmosphere mainly because it seems to be untouched by time and somehow you can feel the energy of a war as well as pressure that was affecting the residents of this fort. Sometimes you can see there some events so be aware of...
